About Me and This Site
I'm Jeff Christian and I'm a 40-something artist, illustrator, and designer who has over 20 years
experience as a professional artist. I live and work in Pittsboro, pretty much in the center of
North Carolina, with my wife, Tracie, and children, Alex, Julia, and Luke.
I like to paint what interests me, and I try to keep with what I know with the idea in mind that
what I paint is a little bit of who I am. I enjoy the outdoors and specifically fishing. Fishing
beckons me out of my comfort zone and often while seeking elusive fish further and further
along the trail I awaken from my predatory trance to find myself in a perfect scene in a perfect
time. That spot in time is often the subject of my paintings. Along with the remote wildness of
my sporting life, I've also become enamored of my everyday surroundings in my small
community. Recently I've begun a series of paintings of scenes I drive by almost daily and I look
forward to sharing them on site.
In addition to my paintings, I create designs for screenprinting for clients all over the US. My
designs can be found in gift shops and state parks along the East Coast, all over North Carolina,
and in the marinas and tackle shops of the Louisiana Coast. I am a full service designer, in that I
can design the art for you and I can have them printed on almost anything as well. With my
experience as an Art Director in the textile printing industry, I know how to make art that not
only looks good, but will print well on whatever you have in mind.
Along with art, design, and illustration, I also enjoying woodworking, boatbuilding, and other
similar crafts. Some of my work will be for sale on this website, including a handbuilt
handpainted landing net, an ultralight one-hand mini-paddle for kayak fishing, and hand-carved
hand-painted wooden rattling topwater fishing lures.
